The best and the brightest at e-Services Awards 2008

As the world’s global players in outsourcing converged at the 8th e-Services Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition, the road to international recognition has also been paved for the Philippines’ ICT innovators and entrepreneurs cited at the e-Services Awards 2008, a country recognition of the best and the brightest in Philippine ICT.

Outstanding Consumer Application of the Year

Total Transcription Solutions, Inc. On-the-job simulation program for MT

Philippine medical transcription company TTSI or Total Transcription Solutions, Inc have developed an online on- the-job simulation (OJS) program outside an actual MT office for aspiring medical transcriptionists.

The OJS program came about as most MT production facilities and MT service organizations (MTSOs) are not willing to entertain on-the-job trainees due to high overhead costs and quality assurance.

According to Myla Rose Reyes, TTSI Managing Director, “The OJS program is a very unique and timely product that will help address the current shortage of medical transcriptionists in the country. This is the only product that aims to solve the problem of most medical transcription students and graduates, which is where they will find on-the-job training or OJT.”

Tech Factors, Inc.: Tekkids Courseware

Who says learning can’t be fun?

Tech Factors Inc., a Philippine company was able to develop an ICT learning courseware materials for preschool and grade school levels. Called Tekkids Courseware, the solution is composed of interactive CDs that enhances the student’s learning experiences.

Advance World Systems: ATM System Development for a major Japanese bank

For two years, Philippine software company Advanced World Systems has been supporting the ATM technology and system architecture for a major bank in Japan. This ATM System developed by AWS is frequently updated
to include the latest services of the bank, from credit or cash card to updates on deposit or
withdrawal.

“Bagging the e-Services Awards strengthens the confidence level of our customers to our company,” said Ramil Villanueva, assistant vice president for corporate planning of AWS.

Media Farm, Inc.: Sun Life VUL e-learning program

A pioneering effort in Philippine insurance, financialmservices, and HR training industries, Sun Life VUL e-learning Program developed by IT company Media Farm is an engaging mix of slideshows and games which learners can use to learn more about Sun Life Financial.

It consists of lesson-slideshows, role playing games (RPG), simulated exams, quizzes, glossary, and downloadables.

EMR Global Corporation: Electronic Medical Record

It could change the way Philippine healthcare delivers patient care. The Electronic Medical Record developed by EMR Global allows access of real-time data and evaluation in medical care. In the Philippines, this digital filing process could help improve the core processes of clinics and hospitals.

Next IX, Inc: NEXT IX INF

Philippine company Next IX, Inc. has developed a service that can incorporate computer intelligence into any telephone system. This system is based on open source technologies both hardware and software using a system architecture similar to Star trek’s
“borg” (a cyborg that assimilates many components).

“The connectivity option is limitless in INF. It can be integrated to any data/voice network possible for surveillance systems, home automation, office productivity, farming intelligence, and remote sensing,” said Roberto Suson, CEO of Next IX, Inc.

He added, “This entry proves that a Filipino company can compete worldwide in innovation-- we just need to leverage on what is out there and apply it to what we know.”

People Support (Contact Centers)

People Support is a business outsourcing provider of customer management services, transcription and captioning, and other back office services.

The Philippine ICT industry produces some of the most impressive creative talent and business models in the country, and they deserve every recognition they can get,” said Trade Assistant Secretary Fe Agoncillo-Reyes, executive director of CITEM. “We want to give our best and brightest a tangible endorsement to take with them to global markets.”

Some of the international personalities who joined the judging this year were David Barrett, chairman of the European Advisory Board and International Association of Outsourcing Professionals and Nora Terrado, country manager of headstrong.
